Ebru is a Turkish art form several centuries old. Pigment is floated on a tray of thickened water, where it stays on the surface instead of mixing in. You move it around with a brush, a comb and a needle until you have a pattern, then lay paper or fabric on top and lift the whole design off in one go.

No. Almost nobody who walks into Mosaic Art Studio – Voorhees, NJ has marbled before. Your instructor demonstrates first, then stays with the table while you work — and because you can skim a tray clean and start over, there is no way to ruin anything.

Sessions run about 1.5 to 2 hours, including the introduction, practice time and printing. Everything goes home with you the same day: we set the colors and iron the fabric dry at the studio, so your piece is finished when you leave — nothing to do at home.

Every seat covers the workshop, all materials, an apron, instructor guidance and printing your design on paper. Options above paper — silk, tote, hat, ceramic, light box — are priced as the full seat price with that item included, starting at $49.00. There is nothing extra to pay at the studio unless you add another piece on the day.

Book one seat per piece: for two silk scarves, book two seats, so there is time to marble and print each one properly.

Extra pieces can often be added at the studio too, depending on how much time is left in the session and what we have in stock — ask your instructor at the start rather than at the end.

Yes. Everyone at the table works at their own tray and can print on a different item in the same session. Book one seat per person and choose each person's item as you go through the booking calendar.

Children from 5 years old are welcome with a grown-up alongside them. It is one of the easier workshops for younger makers — the colors do most of the work and there is nothing sharp or hot involved.

Something comfortable and casual that you would not mind a splash on. We provide aprons, but the pigments are water-based and marbling can get a little messy. Arriving about 10 minutes early gives you time to settle in before the session starts.

Booking online in advance is required — we cannot take walk-ins. Each tray is set up per seat for the session, so the calendar above is the only way in.

• Cancel at least 168 hours (7 days) before the session starts and the booking is refunded in full.
• Cancel between 168 and 120 hours (7 to 5 days) before and up to 50% of the booking fee may be kept as an administrative fee.
• Less than 120 hours (5 days) before the session, the booking is non-refundable.

• Reschedule at least 48 hours before the session starts at no charge.
• Within 48 hours of the session there is a $25 per person handling fee.
• One reschedule per booking. If you do not have a new date yet, the booking code we issue is valid for three months.
