Workshop overview
Pick a piece off the shelf — a plate, a mug, a bowl, a vase — and paint it. Your instructor demonstrates first and stays at the table throughout, so no experience is needed; work from a traditional Turkish pattern or go freehand, whichever you feel like on the day.
When you're done, your piece stays with us to be glazed and fired. That's the step that seals it, makes it food-safe and gives it its gloss — you can't do it at the table. We'll tell you when it's ready to collect from the studio.
How the price works: your $39 reservation covers the session and a choice of around 15 designs. The studio shelf holds more than 100, from $39 to $70 — if you fall for a dearer one on the day, you pay only the difference, by card or cash. Nothing else to pay.

Your instructor paints a piece in front of you — brush technique, colour blending, how to get a clean line — so you start with something to copy rather than a blank shelf.

Choose your piece
Pick from the studio shelf: plates, mugs, bowls, vases and decorative pieces. Around 15 designs are covered by your reservation; over 100 are on the shelf, and anything dearer is just the difference.

Plan your design
Sketch your idea, or work from one of the traditional Turkish patterns and stencils. Freehand or guided — both are fine.

Paint it
Bring it to life with professional ceramic paints, with your instructor at the table for as much or as little help as you want.

Your piece stays with us to be glazed and fired — that is what makes it sealed, food-safe and glossy. We tell you when it is ready and you collect it from the studio.

What will I be painting on?

How does the pricing work?
The $39 you pay online is the reservation, and it already covers a choice of around 15 designs.
In the studio you can see the full shelf — over 100 designs, from $39 to $70. If you choose one that costs more than your $39 reservation, you pay just the difference on the spot, by card or cash. Pick a $45 piece and you pay $6. There is nothing else to pay: paints, tools, apron, instruction, glazing, firing and refreshments are all in.
How long does the workshop last?
About 1.5 to 2 hours, including the introduction, the demonstration and your painting time.
Do I need any prior experience?
None. The workshop is built for beginners and for anyone who just wants to try something new. Plenty of guests at Mosaic Art Studio – Voorhees, NJ have never held a ceramic brush before.
Will there be instructions or a demonstration?
Yes. Your instructor gives a live demonstration at the start — brush technique, colour blending, detailing — and is at the table for the whole session if you want help, or happy to leave you to it if you don't.
Is this workshop suitable for children?
Yes. Children aged 5 and up are welcome with a participating adult.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes — all seats are booked online and we can't accept walk-ins. Sessions are small, so they do fill up.
What should I wear?
Something comfortable you don't mind getting paint on. We provide aprons, but ceramic painting can get a little messy.
What happens to my piece after the workshop?
It stays at the studio to be glazed and fired. That's the step that seals the paint and gives the piece its durable, glossy finish — it can't be done at the table and it can't be rushed. We'll let you know when it's ready and you collect it from the studio.
What is the cancellation policy?
- Cancel at least 168 hours (7 days) before the session starts and the booking is refunded in full.
- Cancel between 168 and 120 hours (7 to 5 days) before and up to 50% of the booking fee may be kept as an administrative fee.
- Less than 120 hours (5 days) before the session, the booking is non-refundable.
- Refunds are not available on the day of the class.
Can I reschedule my booking?
- Reschedule at least 48 hours before the session starts at no charge.
- Within 48 hours of the session there is a $25 per person handling fee.
Do you host private events and group bookings?
Yes. Ceramic painting suits birthdays, team events, showers and family gatherings, and a private session at Mosaic Art Studio – Voorhees, NJ gives your group the table and an instructor to yourselves. A minimum spend applies and it varies by location, so send us the details and we'll come back with a quote.
